Romax Technology Announces Opening of China Office

Romax technology opened its Chinese subsidiary of Romax at the end of 2008 as a result of the success it has realised in China, particularly in the wind energy market. The announcement of the opening of Romax Technology (Hangzhou) Limited was heard at a joint seminar held between Romax, the Chinese Wind Energy Association and the Chinese Bearing Industries Association held in Beijing.

The office in Hangzhou will offer customer support to the growing wind energy market. One of its key roles is to support existing projects including the Dalian Huarui 3MW wind turbine gearbox that has entered the prototype stage as well as the newly announced project with CQWJ (Chongqing Wang Jiang), which is entering its detailed design stage. Since the opening of the office Romax has also signed a contract with a large bearing manufacturer in China. The new project is to help the manufacturer certify their designs of pitch bearings to EU standards.

The China subsidiary will be actively supporting all customers across both the wind energy and transportation sides of Romax’s business. Currently, the office also has engineers working directly at Dalian and in Beijing. Plans are already underway to set up a further office in Chongqing and to recruit more engineers in the next few months.

Romax is continuing to build on its relationships with key customers within the industry and it is believed the opening of its China office will strengthen these relationships further. Dr Peter Poon, Chief Executive of Romax Technology explains, “We have a strong commitment to development on a local level as it provides us with the ability to provide a faster response to our customers. We are involved in many areas of the design process from initial design to final testing and so there is a need for us to be within close reach of our customers.”

“Finally, the opening of this office and its continued growth within China will also contribute to the rapidly expanding renewable energy industry as a whole as well as support the growth of a developing country,” concluded Dr Poon.
