AGMA Gear Expo, 15-17 September, Indianapolis, USA
Romax Technology will be presenting at a unique seminar hosted by the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) at this year’s Gear Expo event. The seminar will be presented by Romax’s wind energy team and aims to provide gear manufacturers with an understanding of the opportunities available to companies who wish to enter the wind turbine gearbox supply chain.
Romax will also be exhibiting at the three day event at booth 1036. There will be an opportunity for visitors to discuss any of Romax’s services in more detail with key members of staff including Brian Wilson, Chief Technical Officer and NVH Specialist, Paul Lefief, Senior Sales Representative and Zach Wright Applications Engineer.

BGA Gears 2009, 26 November 2009, Agusta Westland, Somerset, UK
Romax CEO and Founder, Dr. Peter Poon will be delivering the keynote speech at the 2009 British Gears Association (BGA) Gears Technical Awareness Seminar. The event will see top industry professionals gather to discuss the technical and commercial interests of manufacturers, distributors, and academics involved in the Gears industry in the United Kingdom. The event will also see a number of other speakers presenting on topics such as renewable energy, aerospace, design software and manufacturing.
Dr. Poon will deliver a speech on the growing opportunities for the gear industry in the rapidly expanding wind energy market. He will discuss the place of gears in wind turbine gearbox design, particularly in relation to two conflicting design requirements: light weight within a tightly defined space and high reliability and maintainability during a 20 year operating life. In addition, Dr. Poon will address the gear industry’s response to the growing but demanding off-shore wind industry, where turbines will be subject to extreme loading and temperature fluctuations. The speech will highlight the challenges facing gearbox design and modern methods by Romax Technology developed to meet these challenges.
