RomaxDesigner is a virtual product development and simulation environment for the design and analysis of the complete transmission - gearboxes, bearings and drivetrains and all components.

The RomaxDesigner environment can be used at the centre of your engineering process, at each stage of the product lifecycle.

Our simulation technology, RomaxDesigner was the world's first object orientated engineering design software and over the last 14 years has been used by major OEMs, component manufacturers and academics across the automotive, aerospace, off-highway, motorsport and rail industries.

Gearbox concept analysis

  • "Stick diagram" modelling of a transmission, easier than pen-and-paper
  • Fast drag & drop manipulation of the layout to adjust the design in minutes
  • Powerflow path analysis for each transmission ratio, speed and torque
  • Tooth passing frequency analysis to provide early indications of likely NVH performance
  • Gear sizing analysis to determine packaging requirements

System modelling capabilities

  • Identify root causes of transmission noise via mode shape, modal energy, waterfall plots and harmonic response etc
  • Perform gear contact analysis for hypoid and bevel gears with interface to ANSol
