Improve Durability, Efficiency and NVH for Railway Drivelines and Transmissions
Romax offer consultancy for driveline and transmission systems for railway applications including the final drive, axle box and the overall bogie assemblies. Our expert specialists are available to provide support for any problem solving issues in terms of bearings, gears or structural design.
In fact, when Romax began in 1989, our early work was largely focused around failure analysis and forensic engineering for the rail industry. Therfore, we have many years of supporting companies within this sector.
One example of a previous project Romax carried out was the assessment of failures occurring with axle box bearings in a fleet of trains, with countermeasures recommended based on Romax experience and advanced analysis techniques.
The Romax approach to railway drivelines and transmissions allows the whole system to be considered and evaluated at once, so that deflections from the axle shaft or bogie frame can be included in the assessment of mesh misalignment in the final drive gear set.
Our advanced methods can be used not only to investigate durability and efficiency of the components but also dynamic analysis to assess mode shapes, housing responses and vibration. Romax can carry out detailed Design of Experiment techniques to assess many parameters within the driveline arrangement such as gear tooth profiles and bearing clearance to provide optimised solutions.
