Romax Technology has recently returned from Frankfurt, Germany where its 2011 European Summit took place, on 4th and 5th October at the prestigious InterContinental Hotel. The Summit was successful in bringing together the many European users of Romax's precision bearing, gearbox and driveline
simulation and analysis software, RomaxDesigner, potential new software users from within the automotive and transmission industries.
Alistair Greenhill, Group Marketing Manager at Romax Technology delivered the Romax keynote lecture on, "Global Trends and Challenges for Driveline Engineering", which kicked off the 2 day conference. This was followed by a number of RomaxDesigner software and project application presentations from our experienced clients including Renault, Mitsubishi Motor Company, PSA Peugeot-Citroen, Punch Powertrain, GETRAG Ford Transmissions and GKN Driveline.
Our partner organisation Klingelnberg GmbH gave a very interesting presentation on bevel gear design, including techniques for ensuring optimized hypoid gear performance that considers gear manufacturing as well as durability, systems deflections, mesh misalignment, NVH and efficiency. The presentation highlighted the interface between RomaxDesigner and KIMoS from Klingelnberg
This was followed on the second day with technical presentations from Romax experts on new and interesting technical capabilities including concept modelling, flexible bearings, efficiency optimisation, duty cycle generation, system analysis of hypoid gearsets and dynamics. Director of Technology at Romax, Barry James gave delegates a preview of the new modules, features and improvements to the next RomaxDesigner release R14, and Gareth Owen, Software Release Manager gave a useful presentation of hints and tips for RomaxDesigner users enabling them to access those useful tools within Romax to make the design process more efficient.
Those delegates slightly newer to Romax and RomaxDesigner software really benefited from understanding the many applications of RomaxDesigner highlighted and demonstrated through our user presentation of project work and software use.

Not only did the Romax European Summit offer insights into the current applications of RomaxDesigner and access to Romax technical knowledge and presentations, but it offered all delegates to increase their knowledge of simulation technology through networking, engaging in discussions and sharing ideas.
