Romax Technology to Present at SAE NVH Conference

Romax Technology’s NVH experts will present four technical papers at the SAE Noise and Vibration Conference and Exhibition, to be held in St. Charles, Illinois. The conference is the only dedicated mobility NVH event in North America, taking place May 19-21, 2009. Over 1400 engineers and scientists from around the world are expected, forming a community of NVH experts and specialists gathered to learn about, present and display the latest technological innovations.

The technical papers scheduled to be presented are: The Influence of Key Parameters on the Non-linear Resonances in Loaded Driveline Rattle; Boundary Conditions Affecting Gear Whine of a Gearbox Housing Acting as a Structural Member; Optimisation of Gear Whine Efficiency and Durability of a Manual Transaxle; and, Design and Analysis of a Gear Rattle Test Rig and Rattle Measurements. These papers will highlight various technical capabilities of the RomaxDesigner software while also exploring key NVH challenges facing the mobility industry.

During this three-day conference, Romax will also host a booth within the exhibition, 514 and 516. Managers and engineers responsible for delivering transmission, axle and geartrain NVH, as well as durability and efficiency, are invited to visit and find out more about the developments of RomaxDesigner software including RomaxNVH, discuss design issues and gear-related NVH as well as explore the range of engineering services offered by Romax Technology’s US Office. Key members of Romax’s NVH team will be present including Brian Wilson, Chief Technical Officer and Dr Michael Platten, NVH Team Leader.

“RomaxDesigner has traditionally been viewed as a gear and bearing durability software package, especially in the US market. We want transmission, axle and geartrain engineers to know about our advanced noise, vibration and dynamics capabilities, and how we use the complementary Design of Experiments and Monte Carlo modules to solve system NVH problems,” said Brian Wilson. “In addition, our US office is growing, expanding our US-based engineering services and technical support. The SAE NVH Conference gives us an opportunity to share and interact with the noise and vibration community, meeting old friends and hopefully making new ones. We’re looking forward to it.”
