Responsibilities
- Project management of engineering design projects with focus on coordination of the technical design aspects
- Contribute to engineering design and solid modeling for wind turbine drivetrain systems
- Providing technical input and leadership across a diverse range of wind turbine projects
- Creating detailed technical drawings to relevant standards, specifying suitable materials and methods of manufacture
- Monitoring and reviewing the drawings and designs of others
- Preparing and presenting proposals & design reports, both internally and to clients
- Presenting and explaining designs, reports and findings to clients
- Producing technical documentation
Nature of Work
- Conceptual design of drivetrains, including bearing selection, shaft sizing, etc.
- Contributing to assembly and component design for wind turbine drivetrains and component test rigs
- Bedplate and housing design
- Design and specification of fits and bolted joints
- Maintaining BOM and preparing manufacturing and assembly documentation
- Coordinating and ensuring the timely delivery of project work by engineering team for CAE of rotating and supporting components
Experience
- 4+ year experience with CAD packages
- Strong experience in design of mechanical components
- Familiarity with rotating machinery including gears, bearings, mechanisms and related standards, lubrication systems
- Involvement in machine build from design through to assembly, test and commission
Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering or related degree
