The 8th Technology Seminar hosted by Romax Technology in Beijing, China, discussed Advances in Drivetrain & Gearbox Design by Simulation.
With 20 years experience RomaxTechnology is a world leading gearbox and drivetrain software design and development specialist. Our expert engineering teams and conceptually advanced virtual product development and simulation suite provide world class solutions that improve product development and extend the life of your product and improve your product’s performance across the wind energy and transportation industries.
The latest in a series of technology seminars delivered by industry-leading Romax Technology was held last week (June21) in Beijing, China, followed by the customer open week (June 22-24) It comprised a selection of presentations and lectures from Romax experts and our partners on advances in drivetrain and gearbox by simulation in both the transportation and wind industries.
The seminar introduced and considered the evolution of simulation technology before offering the attendees the opportunity to sit in and listen to either wind-energy case studies or vehicle engineering case studies in the afternoon which were run simultaneously in separate rooms. The case studies featured examples of how Romax Technology simulation software has been utilised by our current partners to help solve their drivetrain and gearbox design problems.
Talks were delivered by representatives from the global engineering solutions provider Romax Technology - including world-leading bearings expert and Romax CEO Dr Peter Poon - as well as China Wind Energy Association’s (CWEA) Chairman Mr. He Dexin. Other notable speakers included Romax’s chief software architect Rupert Poon, software project manager Dr Jamie Pears and senior regional engineering manager Chris Blockley.

The seminar proved a huge success attracting over 140 attendees from 68 companies present. Building on the achievement of previous Romax-led seminars the event helped foster closer ties and enhanced industry knowledge of those who attended.
Romax Technology also hosted an open week over the three days that followed the seminar to allow attendees and existing clients to come and discuss technical details such as how the advances in simulation software could specifically support their drivetrain and gearbox design processes. Over 90 people visited the Romax offices during these three days. The open week facilitated the opportunity not only for distinguished customers but also new potential partners to communicate face to face with Romax experts and discuss technological solutions to their individual needs.

The event was held at the 5-star business hotel in Beijing which provided an ideal location for the 8th Technology seminar. Moreover, feedback from the event confirmed the success of splitting the wind-energy and vehicle engineering case study talks as guests were happy to attend the discussion that best matched their business interests and requirements. The numbers present at both the seminar and the ensuing open week demonstrate the popularity of Romax’s Technology Seminar Series and confirm belief in the importance of knowledge transfer – something Romax Technology is passionate about and believes fundamental in driving the innovative development and design of drivetrain and gearbox software.
